Nespresso Lattissima Frother Not Working (One, Pro, Touch)

Last Updated on June 19, 2023 by Jorian

You woke up this morning longing for a good cappuccino. You turned on your Nespresso Lattissima to make one, but the milk frother didn’t work or only half worked.

If this is the case you have come to the right place, in this article I will tell you exactly how to solve this problem.

Why Is The Lattissima Milk Frother Not Working?

Your Lattissima is probably not frothing milk because the frothing system is clogged with old milk residue. You can solve this problem by taking apart the Rapid Cappuccino System and soaking all parts in water and some mild detergent. Also, check that the milk frothing control knob is set to the frothing position and that you are not using vegetable milk.

Clean The Milk Frothing System

The most common reason why the milk frother is not working is that the milk frothing system (or Rapid Cappuccino System, as Nespresso calls it) is clogged with old milk residue and needs to be cleaned.

This is the case when the milk frother makes a noise and sputters only a small amount of milk when you turn it on.

How To Clean The Lattissima One Rapid Cappuccino System

To begin you want to take the rapid cappuccino system apart. First, take the frothing system off of the Lattissima. Then by pressing the button on the side you can take the milk container off and pull the aspiration tube out.

Turn the milk spout to a vertical position and press the button on the side again and pull the milk spout off. When you reassemble it, you also want to put the milk spout back in a vertical position.

Press the button on the side again and pull out the rapid system connector.

Now that the milk system is completely disassembled, you want to rinse all parts with hot potable water of about 105 Fahrenheit to get most of the milk residue off.

Then, soak all the parts for about half an hour in water of the same temperature, with some mild detergent in it.

Do not use harsh cleaning products such as all-purpose cleaners, this may damage the components. Make sure the air inlet on the connector of the rapid system is clean.

Take the parts out and rinse them well with hot water. Dry all parts with a towel or paper towel and reassemble the milk system.

How To Clean The Lattissima Pro And Touch Rapid Cappuccino System

Cleaning the Lattissima Pro and Touch differs a bit from cleaning the Lattissima One because these two models also have a dial on the top.

First, pull the milk container lid off and take the aspiration tube out. Remove the frothing control knob by turning it to the unlock symbol and pulling it up.

Remove the rapid cappuccino connector by turning it to the unlock icon and pulling it off. Remove the milk nozzle by simply pulling it off.

Alternatively, you can put all the parts in the dishwasher. But usually, this won’t clean it fully.

The Knob is Not On Frothing Mode

If you have a Lattissima Pro or Touch, make sure you set the dial on top of the frothing jug to the frothing position, not to unlock. If it is not in the frothing position, it will do nothing.

You’re Using Vegetable Milk

The milk frothing system will not work properly if you use plant-based milk. For best results, you want to use whole or semi-skimmed cow’s milk of about 40 degrees Fahrenheit (normal refrigerator temperature).

Vegetable milk is too watery for the rapid cappuccino system.
